Anglers Announce Coaching Staff
The Chatham Anglers of the Cape Cod Baseball League have announced their coaching staff for the 2010 season.
At the helm of the Anglers will be John Schiffner. Schiffner is returning for his 18th season as the team’s head coach. “Coach Schiff” is a former player for the Harwich Mariners and currently coaches high school baseball in Connecticut. He holds the distinction of being the winningest coach in Cape Cod Baseball League history.
Joining Schiffner will be returning assistant coaches Jay Grenier and David Miller. Both men are back for their second season in Chatham. Grenier is currently an assistant coach at Wheaton College in Massachusetts, while Miller is an assistant coach at Villanova.
New to the coaching staff this year are Ryan Heil, Roberto Saenez, and Alex Schlosberg. Heil is currently the pitching coach at Riverside Community College and will serve in that same role with the Anglers. Last summer, he was pitching coach for the Corvalis Knights who made it to the West Coast League championship.
Saenez is currently an assistant coach at Lewis and Clark College in Lewiston, ID. He also coached last summer in the West Coast League. He was on the coaching staff of the Wenatchee Apple Sox who beat the Corvalis Knights in the WCL championship.
Schlosberg is new to the coaching staff, but not to the Anglers. Last year, he served as the bullpen catcher and frequent singer of the National Anthem. He will continue his bullpen catcher duties, but will also take over as bullpen coach.
