corvallis-knightsThe Corvalis Knights of the West Coast League have finalized their coaching staff for the 2010 season.  Head Coach Brooke Knight will return for his third season at the helm of the Knights.  He’ll be joined by second-year assistant coach Travis Hanson, and three newcomers; assistant coaches Ryan Wing, Bobby Burk,  and Billy Clotz.

In addition to his head coaching duties, Knight is the organization’s general manager.  He has been in the Knight’s front office a total of five years, but his involvement with the organization goes back even further.  During his college years, which saw him playing both baseball and football at Oregon State University, Knight played for Corvalis during the summers of 1991, 1992, and 1993.  Following college, Knight played professional baseball in the Milwaukee Brewers and Pittsburgh Pirates organizations.  He also played professionally in Australia, where he began his coaching career.  Upon his return to the U.S., Knight worked as a scout for the Montreal Expos and Florida Marlins.

Hanson is also a former major leaguer.  He played for six years in the St. Louis Cardinals organization where he was named the Cardinals’ Minor League Player of the Year in 2005.  After retiring from professional baseball in 2008, Hanson helped work with hitters on the University of Portland baseball team.  He currently works as an assistant baseball coach at Marist High School in Eugene, OR.  He is pursuing a masters degree in sports management at the University of Oregon.

Ryan Wing is yet another former pro who will be working on the Knights’ coaching staff.  He spent nine years playing professional baseball in both the U.S. and Japan.  He is currently an assistant baseball coach at Riverside Community College.

Burk is a product of Cal Baptist University.  He also played college baseball at Riverside Community College and Long Beach State University.  He is currently an assistant coach at Riverside Community College.

Clotz is currently a senior at Western Oregon University where he is playing his final year of college baseball.  He played for the Knights during the past four summers and will be joining the Knights for his fifth season, but this time as an assistant coach.
