Farmington To Re-Join KIT League (UPDATED)
The KIT League will be adding at least one new team for the 2010 season. And although the name has changed, the location has remained the same.
According to a report in the Daily Journal Online, Farmington, MO will be rejoining the KIT League for the 2010 season. Following the 2008 season, the Farmington Firebirds dropped out of the league and disbanded. This go-round, they’ll have a new owner and a new name.
The team will be known as the Farmington Browns, in honor of the old St. Louis Browns MLB team. According to owner Ted Kapnick, the team will wear historic Browns uniforms throughout the season. Like the Firebirds before them, the Browns will play their home games at Wilson Rozier Park in Farmington.
Originally from New York, Kapnick has spent the past 15 years in the Czech Republic teaching English. He has relocated to the Farmington area and will handle the day-to-day operations of the team.
The addition of the Farmington Browns brings the KIT League up to five teams for the 2010 season. Following the 2009 season, the Union City (TN) Greyhounds and Sikeston Bulls decided to close up shop.
