new-york-collegiate-baseball-leagueAccording to a report in the Niagara Gazette, the New York Collegiate Baseball League and their commissioner, Dave Chamberlain, have parted ways.  Chamberlain had been the league commissioner since 1997.

A military retiree, Chamberlain had nothing but kind things to say about the New York Collegiate Baseball League and his time as commissioner.  According to both Chamberlain and league President Stan Lehman, the league needs to find a commissioner more focused on fund-raising.  Chamberlain admitted that fund-raising is not his forte.

During is tenure as commissioner, Chamberlain often attended one or two games every day during the season.  He took notes on the amenities at each ballpark and shared his thoughts with the teams.  His focus was on improving the experience for the fans.

The New York Collegiate Baseball League will now begin the search for a new commissioner.  They hope to have a new commissioner in place before the start of the 2010 season.
