North Coast Knights Become The Lorain County Ironmen

Submitted by admin on Saturday, 13 February 2010No Comment

northcoast-knightsThe North Coast Knights of the Prospect League has changed their name to the Lorain County Ironmen.  The name change comes as part of a change of ownership that occured earlier this off season.

The Knights were sold in January to RS Entertainment, a company owned by former Cleveland Indians outfielder Kevin Rhomberg.  At the time of the purchase, Rhomberg said he wanted to change the team name to more closely reflect the franchises relationship to the community of Lorain, OH.

Fans of the team voted on potential team names, including the Lorain Internationals, the Black River Barons, the Lorain County Steelmen, and other possibilities.  The winner turned out to be the Lorain County Ironmen.  The team will begin Prospect League play in June at The Pipe Yard in Lorain.
