Outlaws Name Pitching Coach
The Nashville Outlaws of the Prospect League have named former big league pitcher Jerry Bell to be their pitching coach for the 2010 season. He will work under the direction of recently announced head coach Brian Ryman.
Bell is a product of DuPont High School in Old Hickory, TN (just outside of Nashville), and played college baseball at Belmont University in Nashville. In 1992, Bell was elected to the Belmont University Athletic Hall of Fame for both baseball and basketball.
In 1969, Bell was drafted by the Seattle Pilots and made his professional debut with the Milwaukee Brewers in 1971. He was named the Brewers Rookie of the Year that year after compiling a 5-1 record and an impressive 1.66 ERA. During his career, Bell compiled a 17-11 record with a 3.28 ERA.
