The Texas Collegiate League has announced their post season award winners for the 2009 season.  The winners include Mark Hudson (Player of the Year), Rett Varner (Pitcher of the Year, and Chris Clemons (Coach of the Year).

Hudson led the league with a .386 batting average.  The outfielder from Sam Houston State had one home run, 4 triples, 15 doubles, 27 RBI and 24 runs scored.

Rett Varner, a sophomore at Texas-Arlington, fininshed the year with a 41-2 record and a 1.17 ERA for the Coppell Copperheads.  In 46.0 innings he gave up 26 hits, six earned runs, struck out 57 and allowed just seven walks.

Clemons led the Victoria Generals to a 30-14 record and a playoff appearance in the franchise’s first year of existence.  Clemons is currently an assistant coach at McLennan Community College.
