anchorage-bucsThe Anchorage Bucs of the Alaska Baseball League have hired T.J. Bruce to be the team’s head coach for the 2010 season.  He replaces former head coach Thom Drier.

Bruce, who played collegiate baseball at Long Beach State University,  is currently an assistant coach at his alma mater.  Before joining the staff at LBSU, he was an assistant coach at Cerritos Junior College.

Bruce will be taking over a squad that finished 26-19 in 2009, in second place in the Alaska Baseball League.  He will be joined on the coaching staff by returning assistant coach Louis Ullrich and pitching coach Jeff Baumbeck.  Ullrich is a product of Winthrop University.  He’ll be returning for his third year as a coach with the Bucs.  Baumbeck is a coach at Wilson High School in Long Beach, CA.  2010 will be his first season in Anchorage.
