Glacier Pilots Name New Pitching Coach
The Anchorage Glacier Pilots of the Alaska Baseball League have announced the hiring of Tom Davis as the team’s pitching coach for the 2010 season. Davis will work alongside head coach Yogi Cox.
Davis has had an interesting career leading up to being named to the Glacier Pilots’ coaching staff. In college, he pitched at Western Illinois University where he had a very successful career. Unfortunately, an arm injury kept him from playing in the pros and he moved on with his life, becoming a firefighter/paramedic in Moline, IL.
In his spare time, Davis coached various teams around the Quad Cities area and also gave private pitching lessons. Davis and Cox have been friends for years, so when Davis retired from the Moline Fire Department, Cox asked him to come to Alaska for the summer to serve as pitching coach for the Glacier Pilots.
